Voices of the Lifestream

Over the past year, I have grown to love a little site called OCRemix. It has nothing to do with Orange County, California (thankfully). Remixing music from video games, they have quite a few submissions and occasionally release albums apparently. There are, by far, more entries for Square’s Final Fantasy VII (PS1) than any other video game. As an aficionado of the game, I am thankful for nearly all the submissions.
The latest album (to date) is called “Voices of the Lifestream” and features plenty of music from the game in Jazz, Classical, and electronic genres. I highly recommend it for the Final Fantasy nostalgia, or if you’re up late at night programming.
Please, don’t stop there, check out some other awesome songs for:
- Final Fantasy 7 (of course)
- Zelda (Lots of good ones)
- StarFox
- Marathon (couple of really good ones there)
- Sonic (2&3)
- Super Metroid (as well as Metroid Prime) (REALLY GOOD)
- Master Blaster
- Tetris
- Lemmings
- Duck Tales
- Castlevania
And if you’re looking for more free music, try the United State’s Air Force Band They have a good mix of classical and jazz.

Thanks a lot for the kind words on Voices of the Lifestream and OC ReMix in general, Chris. You can always grab most of our music from our torrents area (http://bt.ocremix.org), which has over 100 hours worth of free ReMixes.
Even if you haven’t heard of the game or soundtrack of a particlar ReMix, if you check those out anyway you’ll really find some more great stuff.
We’ve actually got more Chrono Trigger arrangements than Final Fantasy VII arrangements, but in time that could change!

Ah, quite right. I had forgotten about Chrono-Trigger. Sadly, I’ve never played that one.
